Chop, chop chop it UP

Given my background with hands-on and gritty work, I was pretty stoked to get out in the field and grab some photos of these guys choppin’ down some trees for their website.

Let’s just say that this work isn’t for the faint of heart or for those that are afraid of heights.

These guys spike up their feet and scale trees like chainsaw wielding monkey men!

The telephoto came in mega handy when I was grabbing some photos of the head honcho up on a limb - a nice wide angle added a VIBE for some of those tighter shots.

How long do you think it took for the crew to take down this massive tree?

An hour? Two hours? The better part of a day?

Noo, no. They had this thing down in literally 20 minutes. They would tie off to limbs, pull them down one at a time and then start to take down the main trunk bit by bit.

All of the brush goes in the mulcher and gets sold to a landscaping products yard as clean mulch, and the logs get hauled off to be split for firewood.

This crew has a well practiced system in place and they work great as a team to get the job done as quickly and safely as possible.

These guys were super cool and happy to have me on site. I got some headshots of them at the end of the day and their site looks great!

In the end, I had a ton of fun dodging timber shrapnel and hanging out with the team. Hopefully we get to do it again sometime! If you wanna check them out, head over to https://www.tomahawktree.ca
